About Us

Home / About Us

We provide preventive care, including routine check ups, health-risk assessments, immunization and screening tests, and personalized counseling on maintaining a healthy lifestyle.  Another valuable role of the family physician is in managing chronic illness, often coordinating care provided by other sub-specialists.  The importance of this coordination is often overlooked.  Knowing the medications prescribed by different sub-specialists alone can be invaluable in avoiding drug interactions.

The AmericanAcademy of Family Physicians defines the field as the medical specialty that provides continuing and comprehensive health care for the individual and family.  It is the specialty in breadth which integrates the biological, clinical and behavioral sciences.  The scope of family practice encompasses all ages, both sexes, each organ system and every disease entity.

In other words, family physicians provide comprehensive health care for each and every member of the family.  They take the time to know you and the members of your family.  They believe that encouraging wellness is as important as treating illness and disease.

Because of their extensive training, family physicians are the only specialists qualified to provide comprehensive health care for people of all ages – from infants to children to teens to adults to seniors.

Our family physicians have all completed a three-year residency program after graduating from medical school.  As part of their residency, they participate in integrated inpatient and outpatient learning and receive training in six major medical areas:  Pediatrics; Obstetrics and Gynecology; Internal Medicine; Psychiatry and Neurology; Surgery and Community Medicine.  In addition, they receive instruction in many other areas including Geriatrics, Emergency Medicine, Ophthalmology, Radiology, Orthopedics, Otolaryngology and Urology.
